laying out crops
With garlic, ginger, turmeric, and many of our transplants, we measure the precise locations where crops will be planted.
This uniformity helps with weeding and harvesting later. It also ensures we get the maximum number of crops in an area, but not too many. It’s important for crops to have sufficient space to spread out. Squash plants, for example, are planted 2-feet apart, whereas carrots and greens are planted in much greater density.
